Next time, I'll have to be more creative and help the resistance more, so I don't get this bad ending. I have only had one complete run so far, where I tried to be passive and stick to running the shop profitably, but it resulted in an early win for the government.
#NO UMBRELLAS ALLOWED ENDING HOW TO#
You have to carefully manage the shop's finances while also deciding how to help out the resistance but in a way that you do not attract so much attention that the authorities arrest you. In addition, you live in an authoritarian region, with the powers-that-be about to release chemicals in the rain that remove your emotions. in: No Umbrellas Allowed Signatures Edit Some examples of signatures Signatures are an aspect that some items can have, it can be detected with the Signature Detector, a tool unlocked at the first week of the game. You end up running a shop where you buy and sell items from customers, again carefully trying to keep customers happy but also make a profit. The other part of the game involves you hiring adventurers (who you control directly) to enter dungeons, where the loot you collect can be sold in your store as well! Part of the game is managing the shop well by buying items from customers at a favorable price, reselling them at a profit, while maintaining a good atmosphere and friendly relations with your customers (even if it occasionally hurts your bottom line).

You basically inherit a shop that your father ran poorly (and acquired a ton of debt that must be repaid). It is an amazing and highly underrated game. In addition to this core element, there is a wider game where you are choosing if you should help the increasingly authoritarian government, side with rebels, or try to stay out of it as much as you can. You have limited time to examine the passports of travelers getting in and have to examine their papers for any discrepancy with increasingly complicated rules in your handbook. "Papers, Please" puts you in the role of a border guard in a fictional country. Both games might be a bit obscure, so I'll briefly explain. It seems like a hybrid of "Papers, Please" and "Recettear".
